Ethical Pledge
Alberta Certified is built on two pillars: genuine Alberta ownership and operation, and a formal attestation to our Ethical Pledge. Together, they de-risk “Buy Local” so certified businesses are always favoured.

The Alberta Certified Ethical Pledge
Every Alberta Certified business starts from a baseline of full legal and regulatory compliance. Additionally, as a condition of holding the Alberta Certified designation, every certified business formally attests to the following:
1
Deal and Market Honestly
Be truthful with customers, employees, suppliers, regulators, and the public, and never misrepresent products, services, ownership, qualifications, business practices, or ethical performance.
2
Handle Information Responsibly
Use, store, and protect customer and employee data with integrity and appropriate care by collecting only what’s needed and staying transparent about how it’s used.
3
Treat Customers Fairly
Provide clear and accurate information, honour commitments, address complaints promptly, and work to resolve disagreements in good faith.
4
Invest in People
Provide fair treatment, safe and respectful working conditions, work-life balance, and opportunities for employee development.
5
Sustainable Operations
Keep Alberta beautiful: weigh environmental impact in decisions, not just when convenient, and actively look for ways to use resources more responsibly and cut waste.
6
Support our Communities
Contribute positively through local purchasing, employment, volunteering, partnerships, donations, or other activities appropriate to our resources.
7
Correct and Improve
Provide accessible ways for concerns to be raised without fear of reprisal, investigate credible concerns fairly, and correct misconduct when it occurs.
8
Accept Accountability
Acknowledge the independence of the verification process and understand that the Alberta Certified status may be suspended or revoked for failing to uphold this pledge.
This pledge isn’t a formality — it’s the foundation of what the Alberta Certified badge means. It represents the safter, smarter choice.
Built for What’s Ahead
As local-content and domestic-sourcing requirements become more common in procurement — from government contracts to corporate supply chains — Alberta Certified gives your business a verified record of Alberta ownership, operations, and ethical practice. It’s a strong foundation for meeting Buy Canadian and local procurement criteria as those requirements continue to grow.
